At William's Plumbing, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use our plumbing services.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

• Request a quote or estimate through the form on this website
• Request an appointment time
• Contact us by phone, text, or email

Through the quote form, this information includes:

• Your first and last name
• Your email address and phone number, and how you prefer to be contacted
• The service address where the work would be done
• A description of the plumbing problem, how long it has been happening, whether the property is a home, rental, or commercial building, and whether another plumber has already looked at it
• Photographs you choose to upload of the problem. Photos are sent to us as email attachments and are not published anywhere
• The appointment date and time you request, if you request one

We do not take payments through this website and we do not collect card or bank details here. Payment for completed work is arranged directly with you. We also do not operate a newsletter or mailing list.

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect certain information, including:

• Your IP address, which we use to limit abusive or automated form submissions. For that purpose it is held only briefly in memory and is not written to a database. Separately, our hosting provider records ordinary server logs for every request, which include IP addresses; those logs are held by the hosting provider under its own retention schedule and we do not control it
• Information collected by Google Analytics 4, described under "Analytics and Cookies" below

Diagnostic logs for quote requests. When you submit the quote form, our website writes a diagnostic log entry so we can tell that the request happened and, if something went wrong, work out what. That entry contains a random request reference, the time, and your telephone number — the phone number is included so that a request whose email failed to reach us can still be answered by calling you back. It does not contain your name, email address, service address, or the description of your problem. These log entries are held by our hosting provider, are visible to us, and are not deleted individually; treat them as retained for as long as our hosting provider keeps request logs. If you would prefer not to have a phone number recorded this way, contact us by phone instead of using the form.

Address Look-up

When you type a service address into our quote form, each partial address you type is sent from your browser directly to Photon, an address look-up service operated by komoot GmbH in Germany (photon.komoot.io), in order to suggest matching addresses. This happens as you type, before you submit anything. Because that service is outside the United States, the address text you type is transmitted internationally. We do not control what komoot logs. If you prefer not to use it, type your address and ignore the suggestions, or contact us by phone instead.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our plumbing services
• Respond to your inquiries and service requests
• Schedule and manage appointments
• Follow up about the work you asked us about
• Measure how the website is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it
• Detect and prevent spam and abusive form submissions
• Comply with legal obligations

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Resend (Resend, Inc.) delivers the emails generated by our quote form, including any photographs you attach. Your form submission passes through Resend's systems in order to reach us
• Zoho Calendar (Zoho Corporation) receives your name, contact details, service address, and the appointment time when you request a specific time slot, so the appointment appears on our calendar
• Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) receives website usage data as described below
• Photon / komoot GmbH receives address text as you type it, as described above
• Vercel hosts this website, processes the requests your browser makes to it, keeps the server and diagnostic logs described above, and provides the key-value store described in the next bullet
• Quote-request store. When you submit the quote form, the details you entered (name, contact details, service address, description, requested time, and whether a photo was attached) are written to a secure key-value store hosted on our website platform before we attempt to email them to ourselves. This exists so a quote request is never lost if the email fails to send — without it, a delivery failure means we never learn you asked. Only we can read it, it is not used for marketing, and entries are deleted on the schedule set out under "How Long We Keep Your Information"
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Analytics and Cookies

This website loads Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information including the pages you view, the approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.

In addition to standard page views, we record one custom event: when you tap or click a telephone link on this site, we send Google Analytics an event named phone_call_click containing the phone number that was tapped, the visible text of the link, and the page you were on. We do this to understand which pages lead to phone calls. It does not tell us who you are and it does not record the call itself.

Google Analytics loads on every page of this site. There is no cookie banner, because we do not use cookies for advertising, personalisation, or any purpose other than the measurement described above.

This site does not yet detect the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal automatically. To opt out of analytics you can block cookies through your browser settings, install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or use the request link under "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" below, which we action manually. Blocking analytics does not affect any other feature of this site.

How Long We Keep Your Information

Quote requests reach us as email, and requested appointments as calendar entries, so they are retained for as long as those emails and calendar entries are kept — ordinarily for the life of the job and any warranty period, and thereafter as long as tax and business records must be retained under California law. A copy of each quote request is also written to the key-value store described above so that a request is never lost to an email failure; those entries expire automatically and are also deleted when you ask us to delete your information. Server and diagnostic logs (including the request reference and phone number described above) are held by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule, which we do not control, and are not searchable per-person. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in that product. You may ask us to delete your information at any time using the contact details below, and we will delete what we hold, including the stored quote request.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal requirements)
• Ask us to stop contacting you at any time
• Opt out of website analytics, as described under "Analytics and Cookies"

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the right to know what personal information we collect about you and why, the right to have it corrected, the right to have it deleted, and the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

We will verify your request by replying to the email address or phone number we already hold for you, and we will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not use it for advertising. We do use Google Analytics. Depending on how that Google account is configured — specifically whether Google Signals or advertising features are switched on — analytics data can be treated under the CCPA/CPRA as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have written this page on the assumption that it may be, so that you get the opt-out either way.

To opt out, use any of these:

• Send us an opt-out request — this opens a pre-written email. We action it and reply to confirm; you do not need to give us any information you have not already given us
• Call (805) 314-9267 and say you are opting out
• Block analytics in your own browser using the controls described under "Analytics and Cookies" above, which takes effect immediately and requires nothing from us

We will not discriminate against you for opting out, and opting out does not affect our ability to answer a quote request you have sent us.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete that information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top.
